Common Council Unanimously Approve Police Pay Raises

By Eileen Buckley

Buffalo, NY – The Buffalo Common Council said yes to pay raises for City cops. Lawmakers approved $2.3 million in appropriations requested by Mayor Byron Brown at Tuesday's session.

Common Council members unanimously approved 3.4% pay hike for Buffalo Cops. And even though lawmakers applauded the police pay increases, South District council member Michael Kearns says firefighters should be next.

The Buffalo Fiscal Stability Authority lifted a wage freeze in June, but so far there have been no increases. The Control Board must approve the police pay raises.
