Democratic Primary for County Executive Has No Clear Frontrunner

By Mark Scott

Buffalo, NY – It's primary day here in Western New York. The top local race is for the Democratic nomination for Erie County Executive.

Three candidates are in the running -- former Deputy County Executive James Keane, West Seneca Town Supervisor Paul Clark and former Buffalo Mayor Jim Griffin. Buffalo News Political Reporter Bob McCarthy says there's no clear frontrunner heading into today's primary elections.

In Buffalo, there are a couple of hotly-contested races for spots on the Common Council.

The polls in Erie County are opened at 6am. The start time in all other counties in Western New York is 12noon. All polls close at 9 tonight.
