Arrest Made in East Delavan Avenue Shootings

By Mark Scott

Buffalo, NY – Police say they've arrested a suspect in the drive-by shooting that killed two teenagers last week.

Police Commissioner McCarthy Gipson says 22-year-old Calvin McKoy is facing two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of 16-year-old Allen Stepney and 15-year-old Devonte Murray. McKoy is also charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

Gipson says the teens were standing in front of a grocery store on East Delavan Avenue when the shots were fired and were not the intended targets.

More than 90 rounds of ammunition were fired during the shooting.

Mayor Byron Brown and Gipson went door-to-door asking for tips earlier this week. Gipson wouldn't comment on a motive, saying the investigation is continuing. He says more arrests are expected.

Two assault weapons were recovered.
