Crash Kills NFTA Police Lieutenant and his Wife

By Mark Wozniak

Wheatfield, NY – A veteran NFTA police officer and his wife were killed in a town of Wheatfield traffic accident Tuesday.

Lieutenant Randy Burgio and his wife Roseanne apparently struck a truck, then they were struck by another truck. Roseann Burgio died at the scene, and Randy Burgio died on arrival at ECMC.

Their two daughters were riding in the backseat, and State police lieutenant Daniel Lyons said the force of the impact injured them critically.

The daughters, 22 year old Ashley, and Jillian, who is 17, are expected to recover.

Burgio's fellow officers turned out at ECMC Tuesday after hearing news of the accident, to offer support for the family.
