Severe Thunderstorms Hit Western New York

By Mark Scott

Buffalo, NY – Severe thunderstorms affected nearly all parts of Western New York Tuesday afternoon.

The storms were especially powerful in Chautauqua County, where a tornado warning was issued shortly after 3:30. There's no word yet if a tornado actually touched down.

A severe thunderstorm moved through the immediate Buffalo area during the 4:00 hour, bringing with it heavy rains and strong winds.

The heaviest storms brought down tree limbs and power lines. As of 5pm, six thousand customers of National Grid were without power.
