Reward Increased in Arson Fire Investigation

By Mark Scott

Buffalo, NY – Buffalo Fire Commissioner Michael Lombardo says the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for a devastating arson fire has been increased to $10,000.

The fire on Wende Street on June 10th severely injured firefighter Mark Reed. Firefighters union president Joe Foley says he hopes the higher reward will lead to the identity of the perpetrator.

Reed remains in critical condition at ECMC.

His family released a statement Monday that expresses gratitude to Reeds fellow firefighters for their support and prayers. The family also recognized the medical teams tending to Reed for providing him the best possible care.

Late Monday, Commissioner Lombardo also announced that a special fund has been set up at area Citizens Bank branches to accept donations for Reed's medical care.
