Buffalo Bill Cody Billboard Unveiled in Jamestown

By Joyce Kryszak

Buffalo, NY – The greatest showman of the 1800s "Wild West" makes a return engagement Saturday in Jamestown.

The Reg Lenna Civic Center will unveil the fully restored, giant billboard of Buffalo Bill Cody's 1878 Wild West Show. The full-color, 10 by 24 foot paper relic was discovered by accident five years ago beneath a crumbling brick wall.

Town residents scrapped together the fragments, and then the money to have the massive jigsaw puzzle restored. The project received a $52,000 matching grant from the Save America's Treasures Fund.

The curator from the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody, Wyoming is the featured speaker for the event. There will also be a world premiere reading of the lone surviving Buffalo Bill play.

It's all free and open to the public beginning at 7pm Saturday night at the Reg Lenna Civic Center in Jamestown.
