Buffalo's Temporary Casino Finished, Needs Federal Government Approval to Open

By Eileen Buckley

Buffalo, NY – There is still no opening date for the Seneca Nation of Indian's Buffalo Creek Casino.

A temporary casino has been completed, but has not opened to the public. The leader of the Seneca Nation Gaming Corporation says a lawsuit and approval of slot machines are delaying the opening.

Back in January, a federal judge in Buffalo ruled that even though the Departments of Justice and Interior approved gaming for the city casino, he wanted further review by the National Indian Gaming Commission before it opens.

If the NIGC gives final approval within the next 30 days, the downtown casino could open some time in June.
