Buffalo, NY – The controversial plan to sell 207 antique art works from the collection of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery appears to have strong support from gallery members.
About 600 members gathered at Kleinhans Music Hall on Monday night to discuss the issue, and to conduct a vote. Many votes were submitted by proxy. The membership voted by 1,224 to support the board of directors' plan to auction the antiquities with 428 ballots against.
However, Buffalo Art Keepers, the main group organized to oppose the sale, still wants to obtain a state supreme court injunction to stop the auction, set to begin next week.
