Holt Files Suit to Retain Legislative Seat

By Mark Wozniak

Buffalo, NY – George Holt is taking legal action to regain his third district seat in the Erie County Legislature.

Last week, County Attorney Lawrence Rubin issued a legal opinion that said Holt forfeited his seat when he plead guilty to two misdemeanor sales tax violations in connection with his restaurant business. Rubin says he's not surprised by the challenge.

"I think Mr. Holt is looking to protect his reputation. He's looking to protect his salary," Rubin said. "Those are normal things that people do."

Holt's lawsuit is against Legislature Chair Lynn Marinelli and the entire County Legislature.

Holt was discharged from his seat effective January 8th, the date of the guilty pleas.
