Buffalo, NY – The government completed its witness list Thursday in the federal trial of anti-abortion extremist James Kopp.
Kopp is already serving 25 years to life for the 1998 murder of Dr. Barnett Slepian.
Prosecutors are trying to prove that Kopp used a Russian style assault rifle and prevented Slepian from performing reproductive services.
The prosecution called its last witness to the stand Thursday. But the government says it won't officially rest its case until Monday.
Once that occurs Kopp, who is representing himself, will begin to present his case.
Stand by attorney John Humann says Kopp is expected to call a couple of character witnesses, then will decide if he plans to testify.
