Assembly Speaker Silver Awaits DA's Investigation on Hevesi

By Eileen Buckley

Buffalo, NY – State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver says no decision should be made regarding the future of comptroller Alan Hevesi until an investigation is complete. Silver made his remarks while in Buffalo Wednesday.

The Albany County District Attorney's office continues its investigation into's Hevesi's use of a state worker as his wife's chauffeur.

Prior to last week's elections, a special counsel concluded that Hevsei knowingly and intentionally violated state law. An ethics commission also stated that Hevesi betrayed the publics trust. Still, voters re-elected Hevesi.

Democrat Sheldon Silver says because of those election results, state leaders must wait for the D-A's investigation before making any conclusions.
