Restoring Erie County's Oldest Home

By Eleen Buckley

Lancaster, NY – The oldest dwelling in Erie County has received a big funding boost for on-going restoration work.

The Hull House, located on Genesee Street in Lancaster, was built in 1810 by Warren Hull, a Revolutionary War solider. Retirng Assembly majority leader Paul Tokasz delivered $73,000 in state funding for restoration.

Anne Conable is a trustee with the Hull House Foundation. She says over the past three years, volunteers have been working to raise funds to restore the home as an interpretative and educational place. It will offer a historic look at a farmstead and family life on the Niagara Frontier in the 1800's.
