Buffalo, NY – A local dancer who has brought his international experience to the region will be honored Saturday night by Hispanics United of Buffalo.
Sergio Neglia will receive an arts award during the fourth annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration. Neglia, who is from Argentina, established the Neglia Ballet Artists with dancer, and wife, Heidi Halt more than ten years ago in Buffalo. Neglia says the award was completely unexpected.
Executive Director of Hispanics United Lourdes Iglesias says the organization selects individuals and businesses that they believe that reflect their culture.
Neglia's company runs a program called "On School Time." It allows city school children a chance to watch a ballet performance. But Neglia remains humble about his talents and receiving the award. He says his wife Heidi also deserve credit for the work and success of their company.
Neglia will be performing a tango style dance at Saturday's awards ceremony at the Buffalo Convention Center.
Hispanics United says the event is sold out. Click the "listen" icon above to hear Eileen Buckley's story now or use your podcasting software to download it to your computer or iPod.
