Buffalo, NY – Over the last few weeks, the Buffalo Niagara Association of Realtors has been collecting suitcases.
It is a program to benefit foster children. Suitcases for Kids was actually started back in 1995 by a 10 year old girl in Hickory, North Carolina. She discovered that the average foster child moves at least three to four times, but many are forced to carry their personal items in garbage bags.
Now some 11 years later, suitcases are collected in many parts of the U-S. It is a project that Western New York realtors kicked off earlier this month.
The collection drive will wrap up by Setpember 1. There are about 150 drop off locations. Log on to the realtors Website at www.bnar.org for more information. WBFO'S Eileen Buckley reports.
