UB's Center for the Arts Awarded a "Telly"

By Eileen Buckley

Buffalo, NY – Wednesday morning, we told you about a Jamestown marketing firm that was the recipient of a Telly Award. Now WBFO News has learned that another prestigious Telly was delivered to the Center for Arts at UB.

The Center for the Arts was awarded a bronze Telly in the category of lighting design for an ongoing local television series that it produces. The center's executive director, Tom Burrows, says the program, titled "Music is Art Live at the Center," is a weekly, half-hour series. It features local cutting-edge musicians performing along with other visual artists.

It is produced before a live, in-studio audience in a coffeehouse atmosphere at the center.

Fifteen "Music Is Art" shows have already aired locally on WNLO-TV reaching about 300-thousand area households. Eight more will air this fall.

Burrows praised his entire staff for their dedication and creativity that led to the award winning production.

The Telly Awards were founded in 1979. It is a premier award honoring outstanding local, regional and cable TV productions, films and videos across the US.
