Buffalo, NY – Following a year of branch closings and cuts in funding, officials of the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library are planning for the next five years.
Library officials say they want to make sure their limited resources are being used wisely to meet the needs and wants of the community.
Library Director Michael Mahaney says the library's website has an online survey where patrons will be asked to answer such questions as what is the most convenient time to visit the library and what types of materials and programs should be offered. Mahaney says another question asks how much more patrons would be willing to pay for library services.
Mahaney says once a draft five-year plan is developed, it will be shared with the public at a series of meetings later this summer.
