Buffalo, NY – Western New York commuters now have real time access to traffic conditions on area expressways and at border crossings.
The Niagara International Transportation Technology Coalition -- more commonly known as NITTEC -- unveiled its redesigned web site Tuesday. It includes images from 68 cameras strategically placed on the Thruway, Kensington Expressway and other local highways.
NITTEC's executive director Tom George says the service is available free of charge, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
"Now, we can reach out into people's homes and offices and make this information available to them," George said.
A real time traffic map on the web site provides color-coded information on the travel speed along a specific segment of highway.
The new traffic service is available at www.nittec.org.
