State Democratic Convention Continues, Suozzi Holds Own Rally

By Mark Scott

Buffalo, NY – Wednesday marks the second day of the state Democratic Convention in Buffalo. Senator Hillary Clinton is expected to take center stage to kick off her campaign for reelection. Her family is also expected here, including her husband, former president Bill Clinton.

By acclimation Tuesday, delegates to the convention designated Eliot Spitzer as their candidate for governor. In his acceptance speech, Spitzer vowed to bring high taxes and spending under control.

Spitzer faces a September primary against Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi, who bypassed the convention and held a rally of his own in downtown Buffalo yesterday. Suozzi says he was not allowed to address the convention. So, instead, he gathered with his local supporters in Lafayette Square.
