Sabres Force Game Seven against Carolina

By Eileen Buckley and Mark Wozniak

Buffalo, NY – The Buffalo Sabres were back at HSBC Arena late Wednesday morning after Tuesday's big win. They met with coach Lindy Ruff and then hit the ice for a practice session.

The Sabres were scheduled to leave at 2:00 for Carolina to face the Hurricanes in what will be the final game of this series.

Daniel Briere scored a power play goal at 4:22 of overtime Tuesday night to give the Sabres a 2-1 Game Six win. Briere said he knew he scored by the reaction in the arena.

"You saw the light go on. You saw the fans jumping up. I couldn't see much from the blue line," Briere said. "It's a heck of a feeling when you see everybody getting up in the building and going nuts."

If the Sabres win Thursday, they will move on to the Stanley Cup finals against Edmonton. But a loss will bring an abrupt end to the hockey season for the club.
