Buffalo, NY – When former Erie County Sheriff Pat Gallivan resigned earlier this year, his undersheriff, Timothy Howard, was named to succeed him. But this being a scheduled election year, Howard must immediately face the voters. His Democratic challenger Charles Fieramusca is best known for his tenure as the Buffalo Police Department's homicide chief during a particularly violent era of the early 1990s.
