Buffalo, NY – The Erie County comptroller's race historically is rather hum-drum. But an ongoing budget crisis, a control board and political upheaval are making this a highly competitive contest. Three Democratic candidates are vying for their party's nomination in the September 13th primary.

He's also the Independence Party's choice. Robert Whelan got the Conservative nod, as well some top labor endorsements. But former Buffalo Deputy Comptroller Rick Pawarski says they were hand-picked. And he was shut out of the process. But Pawarski says he wants the public's endorsement. We've been talking with Rick Pawarski. He's seeking the Democratic nomination for Erie County Comptroller in next week's primary election.
