Buffalo, NY – Congressman Brian Higgins is once again calling on the state to include the Tifft Farm Nature Preserve as part of ongoing outer harbor development in Buffalo. He first made the proposal one year ago when he was a State Assemblyman.
Higgins says including Tifft Farm in a state park that's being built at the outer harbor makes sense.
"We believe the state parks system, with its record of operating high quality beaches, parks and nature preserves, would be the logical owners of the Tifft Nature Preserve," Higgins said.
Higgins says the Buffalo Science Museum, which currently operates Tifft Farm, is turning it back over to the city. And he says the city is not in a financial position to run it.
Higgins says he's been in touch with state parks officials about his proposal.
