Buffalo, NY – Students in the Buffalo school district's adult education program were honored Thursday at a special ceremony.
They were recognized for their achievements in earning their General Equivalency Diploma, a GED, or for completing English as a second language and vocational training courses.
Natasha Jones, a 32 year-old single mother of four, received special mention for her exceptional academic accomplishments.
Jones said it was her children who played the biggest role in her coming back to school.
"You know, I was telling them stay in school, you need an education, but yet I didn't have mine. So, I wasn't setting a good example," said Jones. I told them I had to lead by example, by going back to school and showing them it can be done, no matter how old you are."
Jones now plans to move on to Erie Community College where she will continue her studies.
