Buffalo, NY – The long-awaited report of Erie County's finances by State Comptroller Alan Hevesi will be released to the public on Monday morning.
County officials Friday confirmed that Hevesi will have the report ready more than a week ahead of schedule. Early leaks of the report cited wide-spread mismanagement by county officials as the main cause of a more than one hundred million dollar deficit.
County Executive Joel Giambra says he is not apprehensive about the findings.
"If the report is fair and unbiased -- and the audit findings meet a test of reasonableness -- then there's not going to be an issue here," Giambra said. "We'll be able to reach a solution."
State Senator Dale Volker of Depew is not waiting for release of Hevesi's report to say that he wants a control board for Erie County. Volker told the Buffalo News Saturday that he thinks the county administration is too weak and the County Legislature too divided to solve the budget crisis.
