Buffalo, NY – A long-time veteran of local law enforcement is running Erie County Sheriff.
On Saturday, the Erie County Democratic Party was expected to endorse Charles Fieramusca as its candidate. Fieramusca is a former Buffalo homicide chief who also taught a criminal justice course at Medaille College. While he enjoyed teaching, Fieramusca says he's ready to return to law enforcement.
"The interaction with the students and faculty members at Medaille College was a positive experience in my life," Fieramusca said. "But my heart never left law enforcement. I guess I'm a cop 100 percent through. So, this is an opportunity for me to get back into law enforcement and I welcome it."
Fieramusca will run against Republican Undersheriff Timothy Howard in November's election.
