Eleven Ounce Baby Born at Women and Children's Hospital

By Associated Press

Buffalo, NY – An eleven-ounce baby girl -- no bigger than the Beanie Baby teddy bear that sits at her feet -- is feisty and already has an attitude, according to her mother.

Sahara Guido delivered the infant at Women and Children's Hospital eleven days ago. The baby, named Dakota, was born 14 weeks early. And despite her size, doctors say she's doing well.

Dakota is breathing with a ventilator and getting nutrition through a tube. Her parents are able to touch her through portholes in her incubator but haven't yet been able to hold her.

Sahara Guido has diabetes and other health issues that caused complications during her pregnancy, leading doctors to deliver her baby early by Caesarean section.
