Buffalo, NY – University at Buffalo officials say fire damaged O'Brien Hall will re-open Wednesday. But all classes at O'Brien are once again cancelled for Tuesday.
The building was damaged by fire on Saturday. The cause remains under investigation.
UB spokesman John Della Contrada says special arrangements will be made to relocate classes from rooms that were extensively damaged by the weekend fire. Otherwise, he said, the building should be ready.
"We've already made significant progress in cleaning and restoring many areas of the building affected by the fire," Della Contrada said. "Cleaning crews have been working around the clock. There is still some hint of smoke (smell) within the building, but not much."
Della Contrada said the Law Library will remain closed until further notice to remove soot from books and equipment. He said arrangements are being made with other university libraries to meet the needs of law students.
