Albright-Knox to Close Tuesdays, Cut Workforce by 20%

By Mark Scott

Buffalo, NY – Erie County's budget crisis continues to have an impact on local arts agencies. The latest to respond to an anticipated cut in county funding is the Albright Knox Art Gallery.

Officials announced that the gallery will be closed Tuesdays as well as Mondays. They also say the staff will be cut by 20 percent.

But the increasingly popular Friday evening program called "Gusto at the Gallery" will continue.

"These were vey difficult actions for the Albright-Knox to take because of our dedicated staff, and the extent of the exception educational and community programs that have been so much a part of the Gallery's fabric in recent years," said Louis Grachos, Albright-Knox director.
