Neglia Ballet Artists Debut at UB Center for the Arts

By Eileen Buckley

Buffalo, NY – The Neglia Ballet Artists will be debuting at the UB's Center for the Arts Saturday night with an "Opening Night Gala".

Neglia is a local dance company with rich international performance skills. It was formed by a husband and wife team. Sergio Neglia is a native of Argentina, who continues to perform internationally.

Neglia says 2005 will be a financial challenge for the company as he, and his Buffalo born wife and ballet partner Heidi Halt, try to generate new support. Neglia says he has been forced to widen his role beyond dance in order to seek new funding. But they say the Center for the Arts could offer an opportunity to grow their audience and generate new support.

Saturday's Opening Night Gala will feature a mixed repertoire featuring the second act of "Giselle," a classical ballet, plus new works choreographed by Halt and Neglia.

In May, the dance company will be performing a full-length ballet, Don Quixote.
