City-County Merger Commission Launches Website

Buffalo, NY – The Greater Buffalo Commission launched a website Thursday with information on its recommendations for merging city and county governments.
The commission released details of its plan last week to create a single 21-member legislative body for Buffalo and Erie County. The position of Buffalo mayor would be eliminated in favor of a county-wide chief executive.
Commission member Marsha Henderson, regional president of Key Bank, says the website is an important outreach tool.
"The website will be a quick and available way for people to access up-to-date information," Henderson said. "They'll have an opportunity to ask questions at the site."
If the commission recommendations clear government hurdles, the public will have final say on the merger in a public referendum.
