Daughter Remembers Father's Quest for Vice Presidency

By Mark Scott

Buffalo, NY – It's been 40 years since Bill Miller ran for vice president on the same ticket with Barry Goldwater. They lost in a landslide to Lyndon Johnson.

Miller, who grew up in Lockport, was a Niagara County district attorney, a congressman and chair of the Republican National Committee before running for vice president.

One of Miller's daughters, Libby Miller Fitzgerald, doesn't want her father to be forgotten. She's authored a new biography, "William E. Miller: The Man Who Wanted to be Vice President." Miller Fitzgerald will be in Buffalo Thursday promoting it.

Click the "listen" icon above to hear her conversation with WBFO's Mark Scott. She'll sign copies of her book Thursday night at 7:00 at Talking Leaves Books on Elmwood Avenue.
