Businesses Join Medicaid Fray

Buffalo, NY – Some business leaders in Buffalo are now lining up to assist in the fight against rising Medicaid costs.

On Tuesday, Republican Erie County Legislator Jeanne Chase announced a plan called "Taking Care of Medicaid Business."

The group says the state should operate the Medicaid program like a business.

Chase has enlisted business leaders to put together their own Medicaid reform recommendations for the State Legislature.

Hormoz Mansouri, president and founder of EI Team Consulting, will serve as chair of the committee.

He said "streamlining" is key for Medicaid reform.

Business leaders actually began plans to start examining Medicaid reform about a month ago.

Lawmaker Chase said once the business panel develops a recommendation, they will host a series of public forums throughout Erie County.
