State Legislature Agrees to $100,000 for H.H. Richardson Complex

By News Staff

Buffalo, NY – The vote isn't final and the money is far from in hand. But some local champions of the historic Richardson Complex are already planning for the building's future.

State lawmakers Wednesday agreed to earmark $100 million for the long-needed renovation project. The plan includes money for a new Burchfield Penney Art Center. Other ideas for the building's possible re-use include a teacher training facility, a combined Olmsted School and an architecture museum.

Another $52 million allocation has been agreed to by the State Legislature to pay for the renovation of UB's Acheson Hall into the new home of UB's School of Pharmacy. But final budget bills must still be approved by Governor Pataki, who has questioned how the legislative programs will be paid for.
