Niagara Tourism Launches $1 Million Marketing Campaign

By Mark Scott

Buffalo, NY – A $1 million national marketing campaign was launched Wednesday promoting attractions in Niagara County.

It's called "Niagara USA, A Great American Getaway." The marketing campaign will target people living in seven markets, ranging from Cleveland and Pittsburgh to Syracuse and Erie. David Rosenwasser, president of the Niagara Tourism and Convention Corporation, said the campaign highlights attractions not just in Niagara Falls but across Niagara County.

"Obviously, the Falls are the major attraction," Rosenwasser said. "That's the brand people know. But we also talk about the Maid of the Mist, Old Fort Niagara, the Carousel Museum in North Tonawanda, the jet boat ride in Lewiston and much more."

And, says Rosenwasser, the campaign promotes the new Seneca Niagara Casino.

"The casino has provided the biggest boost that this community has gotten in many years," Rosenwasser said. "It brings a critical mass here. We're delighted to have it. Now we want to convert as many of those casino patrons as we can to return visitors to our restaurants, hotels and attractions."

The campaign will run throughout the summer and into the fall. Rosenwasser said it's the most money any group has ever spent to promote Niagara County in other areas.
