Buffalo, NY – The budget gap for the Buffalo School District has been reduced.
Schools Superintendent Marion Canedo says the budget gap was reduced from $45 million to about $20 million. But Canedo says they will still be forced to continue deep cuts.
However, Canedo says she is hoping to avoid more teacher layoffs. She says 300 employees plan to retire in June.
A spending package is expected to be presented to board of education on April 21st, then the board will hold a special session April 23 to adopt the budget.
