Niagara Falls, NY – U.S. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton and Congresswoman Louise Slaughter announced a $1 million federal grant Friday for an emergency cardiac unit at the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.
Niagara Falls has the highest rate of deaths from heart disease in the United States.
Construction will start early next year.
"It will not only save lives and enhance the quality of life of people who come to the heart center, but we can learn a lot about how to prevent heart disease and treat it in cost effective ways," Clinton said.
Also Friday, Clinton announced a $275,000 grant for restoration of the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Graycliff Estate in Derby.
