Defense Dept. Announces Planned Troop Levels

The Pentagon announces details of its troop rotation plan for Iraq, calling for reducing the U.S. force there from the current 131,600 to 105,000 by May 2004. The plan would send 85,000 soldiers and Marines to Iraq early next year to relieve troops completing one-year tours, with supplemental support likely to come from reserves. NPR's Eric Westervelt reports.
