Longtime Friend Joins Weekend Lucy Celebration

By Joyce Kryszak

Jamestown, NY – This weekend, Jamestown once again celebrates the birthday of its favorite funny lady. The Lucille Ball Birthday Celebration is an annual pilgrimage for many fans from around the world. But this year there will be one special fan in the crowd. Actress Carole Cooke was Lucy's protege, co-worker, and most importantly, her close personal friend.

She too is a dazzling red head, with a wonderful sense of humor and an amazing talent. Cooke has appeared in such recognizable shows as "Dynasty," "Murder She Wrote," "Charlie's Angels," and movies like "The Incredible Mr. Limpet." And she of course often worked alongside Lucy on her shows. But it's the memory of her friend standing beside her on life's stage which Cook holds most dear.

WBFO's Joyce Kryszak talked with Cooke by phone from her home in California. Click the "listen" icon above to hear their conversation.
