Buffalo, NY – A former mainstream journalist who left to produce his own documentaries on global issues of the day will be in Buffalo tonight. Danny Schechter is the inaugural speaker at a new educational series sponsored by the Western New York Peace Center and the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society.
Schechter was once an Emmy-award winning producer at ABC's "20/20." Today, he heads up Globalvision, Incorporated and the website, mediachannel.org . Each day, Schechter writes a column in mediachannel.org on the role of the global corporate media in shaping the politics of our planet. Since the outbreak of the war in Iraq, he's been focusing on war coverage.
