Wind-Surfing Santa Arrested by Border Patrol

Buffalo, NY – A wind-surfing Santa Claus was sent back to Canada after strong winds blew him to the US side of the Niagara River Sunday.

Coast Guard officials say Jon Fulton of Fonthill, Ontario was wind-surfing on the Canadian side of the river when the winds and currents forced him to drift into a marina on the Buffalo shore.

US Border Patrol officers were there to greet him.

Fulton says he dons a Santa Claus suit each year to sail across the river at Christmas. He says he performs the annual stunt in support of the homeless.

After Sunday's unscheduled trip to the US, Fulton was taken into custody and charged with an immigration violation before being sent back to Canada.
