Buffalo, NY – Children's Hospital dedicated its newly renovated and expanded emergency department at a late afternoon ceremony Wednesday.
The Children's emergency room is the busiest one on the eight-county Western New York region.
Dr. Kathleen Lillis, chief of emergency medicine, says a number of changes were made.
"We opened a new waiting room that has a sea, beach design," Lillis said. "There are now three, private registration areas, two pediatric triage rooms and three surgical rooms for laceration repairs and orthopedic procedures."
The $3.7 million project was funded by private donations.
Lillis says other improvements to the emergency department are planned over the next 12 months.
