The Buffalo Philharmonic welcomes the Canadian Brass this week.By Bill Raffel, WBFO

Buffalo, NY – A favorite brass ensemble joins the Buffalo Philharmonic for a pops concert this weekend. Good morning. I'm Bill Raffel with Music Notes.

All five members of The Canadian Brass are accustomed to performing by themselves. But Trumpeter Ryan Anthony says they especially enjoy teaming up with symphony orchestras.

See the Canadian Brass join the BPO and Assistant Conductor Ron Spigelman Friday (11/29) at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday (11/30) at 8 p.m. in Kleinhans.

Another well-known chamber ensemble, The Amherst Saxophone Quartet, performs tonight (Monday 11/25 at 8 p.m.) in the Ujima Company's Theatreloft.

Violist Donna Lorenzo and Cellist Eva Herrer give a half-hour recital in Saint Paul's Cathedral Friday (11/29) at 12:30 p.m.

Then on Sunday, the Choir of Men and Boys present Handel's Messiah, along with the Early Music Ensemble NYS Baroque. Dale Adelmann conducts Sunday (12/1) at 4 p.m. in the Cathedral, at the corner of Pearl and Church downtown.
