State Grant to Demolish Front Park Eyesore

Buffalo, NY – The view of Lake Erie from Front Park will soon be improved. State Assemblyman Sam Hoyt presented the Olmstead Parks Conservancy Monday with a $50,000 grant from the state.
The money will be used to demolish an old maintenance building that's largely considered an eyesore. Hoyt says the demolition is the first step in the complete restoration of Front Park.
"As early as this spring, we will begin to raze this building behind us, affectionately known as Fort Delano," Hoyt said. "We want to return to the people of Buffalo the most beautiful vista available to us of the place where Lake Erie and the Niagara River converge."
Part of the grant will also be used to renovate the Parkside Lodge in Delaware Park.
