Buffalo, NY – Helena Maria Viramontes' road to creative writing professor began in East Los Angeles, where she was one of nine children, and where summers were spent in the fields as migrant farm workers picking fruit. She's now the author of two books and is teaching at Cornell. You can hear Viramontes Wednesday evening at 8 in the Grupp Fireside Lounge at Canisius College.
