Music Notes: Conversation with Richard Stoltzman

Good morning. I'm Bill Raffel with Music Notes. Stoltzman is touring the country through December with the American String Quartet, performing this familiar piece while introducing audiences to less familiar ones.
Stolzman was last in Buffalo for a jazz performance with the Buffalo Philharmonic. So I asked what he likes about playing diverse styles of music.
See Richard Stolzman with the American String Quartet Tuesday (10/8) at 8:00 p.m. in Kleinhans, with a preconcert talk at 7:15 p.m. Then on Sunday (10/13) at 3:00 p.m., the Chamber Music Society presents a free recital by Violinist Nicolas Kendall and Pianist Pei-Yao Wang.
The Friends of Vienna present Flutiest Eileen Yu and Pianist Leah Peer in recital Sunday (10/13) at 3:30 p.m. in the Unity Church on Delaware near Millard Fillmore Hospital.
Pianists Judith Burritt and Anne Moot present works for one piano and four hands Friday (10/11) at 12:30 p.m. in Saint Paul's Cathedral downtown.
Also in Slee, the UB Symphonic Band and Erie County Wind Ensemble join forces for a free concert Wednesday (10/9) at 8:00 p.m.
The Buffalo Philharmonic visits Canisius College's Montante Cultural Center Wednesday (10/9) at 7:30 p.m. Assistant Conductor Ron Spigelman will also lead the College Chorale and the Choir of Blessed Sacrament Church in mostly sacred works. Then it's back to Kleinhans Friday (10/11) at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday (10/12) at 8 p.m. for a Salute to America with Pops Conductor Peter Nero.
And the Sal Andolina Quartet presents a tribute to Benny Goodman Thursday (10/10) at 7:30 p.m. in the Jewish Community Center of Greater Buffalo, located at 2640 North Forest Road in Amherst.
