West Nile Virus Suspected in Death of Buffalo Man

By Mark Wozniak

Buffalo, NY – Erie County health officials are continuing their investigation into the death of a 76-year-old man at the Erie County Medical Center on Saturday.

The family of Marvin Epps says he was diagnosed last week with the West Nile virus, after complaining of flu-like symptoms earlier in the month.

If the cause of death is confirmed as West Nile virus, Epps would be the fourth fatality in the state, the first upstate.

He was the fifth person diagnosed with the disease in Erie County.
