Judge Allows Redistricting Vote in November

By Mark Wozniak

Buffalo, NY – Buffalo voters will decide the Common Council reapportionment referendum in November.

U.S. District Judge John Curtin says there is not enough evidence to remove the redistricting plan from the ballot. But Curtin did say he is willing to hold more hearings at which time the plaintiffs can provide additional information to bolster their argument.

Opponents of the plan, who say the proposal will harm minority voters in the city, filed the court action. They tell the Buffalo News that they are relieved that Judge Curtin did not dismiss the case.
