Dell Computers Boosts UB's Supercomputing Capacity

Buffalo, NY – Dell Computer founder Michael Dell visited the University at Buffalo Tuesday afternoon to help unveil new supercomputing capacity.

The school's Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics will benefit from the installation of the $13 million complex. It includes 2,000 interconnected Dell servers.

The new machinery will increase the Center's computing capacity by ten times, and will be used to analyze data from the human genome project.

The computers were installed in August.
