Lockport, NY – The New York Civil Liberties Union is requesting records under the state's Freedom of Information Act about hiring practices in the city of Lockport.
The NYCLU is also investigating complaints of racial profiling by the Lockport Police Department.
The group says an overwhelming number of complaints from black residents in the Niagara County city prompted the investigation.
But Lockport Mayor Thomas Sullivan says his office has received just one complaint from a minority citizen. Still, Sullivan said he welcomes the NYCLU input and is willing to comply with the request for records.
